an arm extended,
a shoulder to cry on,
a hug,
a prayer,
presence and silence
as in disbelief we watch
the news unfurl,
yet
even here
the kingdom is growing,
even here
through the horror
and the pain
grace is possible,
Holy Spirit of grace
help us to see you
at work,
help us to catch your
heartbeat
of compassion,
help us to respond,
to find in you,
forgiveness,
compassion,
mercy
and justice...
..even here,
even here.
