My friend Gary has tagged me in a music meme:
Think of eight memorable musical moments, not necessarily all time favourites, but those when, for example, you felt compelled to wait in the car when listening to this amazing song on the radio because you just had to know who it was by. Or the piece you heard on the tv in a drama that drove you straight onto iTunes to download... (remember once we spent the princely sum of 6s 8d on a vinyl single?!). Optional details for each song give where, why and Spotify or youtube links ...
So in no particular order...
1. My first vinyl purchase..
I make no apologies, I was 11, and spent my birthday money on this!!!
2. A bit more taste in evidence...
Judi Tzuke's stay with me tail dawn reminds me of my first date with my husband Tim.
3. Genesis now, I traveled to Coventry to see them in 1979- they were awesome!
I am still a fan!
4. Summer of 69... I remember singing this driving along Norfolk roads with my son Jon- then 18, we wound the windows down and sang and laughed!!! Sorry Jon...
5. The Bach Double- I have posted this so many times I will simply add a link... it lifts my spirits...
6. I love this clip from the Shawshank redemption.... it speaks for itself, enjoy...
7. The Taize Chant "Within Our Darkest Night you kindle a flame that never dies away" it saved me when I was suffering from depression, I would play it again and again, it became my prayer...
8. A hymn that always challenges me; Love Divine... I remember when the words " finish then thy new creation" really hit me... this is no soft and sappy love song!
