It is Jo and Jon's birthday, my "babies" are 18- legally adults! They have organised their own party, so apart from a bit of driving around-and buying charcoal in March (which gained me a few odd looks), I haven't really done much, they sorted out the invitations and the food-they went shopping last night- and their friends are helping to cook....
I suspect that I will be the one clearing up tomorrow though, after the hoards of sleeping teens and twenties (35 in all) have woken from their slumber and crawled into college...
Having said that it will be a relatively early night as quite a few of them have their A'level Theatre Studies exam on Thursday.
They have had lots of cards and presents already- there is something it seems that fascinates their friends about them being twins, they get on really well most of the time too, and share interests and activities. Part of their birthday present from us is a ticket to see a band up in Nottingham- they even share musical tastes.... ( to a point Joanne plays Viola and Jonathan Bass guitar)....
For me it is a strange day, I have been told that it is hard to let them grow up- but I don't find that at all, I am pleased to see the wonderful and talented young adults they are growing into emerging...yes I will miss them when they've gone to University, but it is time for them to go- and I am sure they will thrive.
Pictures- Jon's audition photo for drama courses , and Jo with the Senior Musicianship Award. Jon was awarded the Senior Drama Award this year- unfortunately we don't have a photo!
