There are times when I wonder if all of life is falling apart, and then days like today when it seems that just maybe it might have a hope of coming back together again! Hope and prayer sustain me at times of darkness, and when I can't pray with words I use music or a rosary or simply offer the time to God- now I am giving thanks for prayers both voiced and un-voiced:
I didn't get in to Peterborough today as I had to take Chris to hospital- we were concerned that he may have torn the ligament in his leg again , and that it might be bleeding ( he takes warfarin- and that is one of its many complications). He is OK the exercises have stretched but not torn it, it is simply that this leg is being used properly for the first time in almost 18 months... it is wonderful to see him standing on two feet... such a simple thing- one we too often take for granted.
Emma called with good news after last weeks cello disaster- she has some teaching work this week and is going to play with a Salsa Band tomorrow night, and with the Northumberland Orchestral Society on Monday- this interesting group go into schools and conduct workshops and mentoring programmes- something Emma really wants to get involved with.
Joanne is playing at Kings Lynn Corn Exchange this evening- and every night until Saturday when they have both a matinee and an evening performance. She has accompanied the Gilbert and Sullivan Society before, and is looking forward to this weeks concerts, she will be exhausted though!
Jon had dyed his hair with blond streaks in readiness to play Caiaphas in Jesus Christ Super-star- he'll have black hair one side and black/ blond the other- don't ask is all I can say- he'll probably go bald by the time he's 25 if he changes his hair colour with every role!
Paul has been told his job is permanent- which is very good news- his course id going well and he's hoping to go to Essex University next year to start a History degree with a PGCE....
All of these things are answers to prayer, my children's lives seem hard sometimes and it is tough watching them make decisions and face problems as they become adults- as a parent I'm learning to pray first and offer advice if it is asked for- quite different from when they were small! This is where the serenity prayer comes into its own!
